here's to my hero, dolly, who did everything loud and made loud beautiful. there aren't many people who change how you see yourself, she was one of mine.
i don't think i ever built monarch without her in the back of my head somewhere. the sparkle, the fringe, the not taking yourself too seriously, the being fully, loudly, unapologetically yourself, that's not just aesthetic to me, that's how she taught me to move through the world. every loud print, every sequin, every "too much" piece I've ever picked for this brand has a little of her in it.
